On Tuesday 9th February 2016 at 4pm the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Education will be holding a meeting to examine the effect of the classroom learning environment on educational attainment.
In February 2014, the APPG for Education heard from Professor Peter Barrett of Salford University about his research into the impact of the built environment on learning rates within UK primary schools. Two years ago his preliminary results suggested that the difference in attainment between a child in the “best” environment and that in the “poorest” is equivalent to a whole year’s average improvement in English, maths and reading.
With his research now concluded, and with a sample size five times greater, this meeting will be an opportunity to explore the powerful policy implications of Professor Barrett’s work.
The meeting will be held in Room F of Portcullis House.
There are limited places available for this meeting, but if you would like to attend, please email [email protected].
